1. Pincombe Charts, original One-Name Study at the Guild of One-Name Studies
These Pincombe Charts were created by the two researchers in the original One-name-study at the Guild of one-name-studies. I reprint them with the thought in mind that others could add to the knowledge of these charts. I have reworked some of them and will publish that information when complete. I am publishing the Bishops Nympton chart which was originally published in the Pincombe Newsletter, Volume 1, Issue 3. However the chart could not be downloaded and read so decided to repeat the publication of this chart.
As mentioned in this earlier issue, my line at Bishops Nympton has been attached to Thomas Pincombe (fifth child of John Pincombe and Mary Charlie) and it is incorrect. My 3x great grandparents were Robert Pincombe and Elizabeth (Betty) Rowcliffe. Robert was the fourth child of John Pincombe and Mary Charlie. I believe that John Pincombe’s parents were John Pincombe and Grace Manning and not John Pincombe and Catherine Bryer. Having transcribed the entire Parish Registers for Bishops Nympton the flow of family records does encourage that thought.
Although I do publish this original chart I make note of the error in my own family line and would appreciate any comments from other readers if they detect errors in their family lines.
I have added a couple of blocks of text onto this chart to show the likely correct flow for my family line. All of these Pincombes lines are descendant of John Pincombe and Johanne Blackmore who married at Bishops Nympton 25 Sep 1655 and baptized six children there: William baptized 18 Oct 1656 with his son William married to Mary Vicary (daughter of Christopher Vicary of Rose Ash and their son John married to Grace Manning being my ancestor), Johan (twin) baptized 31 May 1658, Wilmote (twin) baptized 31 May 1658, John died 13 Dec 1673, Thomas baptized 1 Apr 1662 (and married to Christian _____), and Hugh baptized 2 Nov 1664 (married to Sarah and they lived at Swimbridge). All the Pincombe lines at Bishops Nympton after 1655 descend from this couple into the 1800s.
Family Lore plays a large role in this discussion as well. My mother could recall her line going back from her father John Routledge Pincombe to William Robert Pincombe to John Pincombe to Robert Pincombe to John Pincombe married to Mary Charlie to John Pincombe married to Grace Manning.

These tables represent many years of work at the record offices by the two original Pincombe-Pinkham family researchers and Richard Pinkham was a physician and able to make contact with some of the Pincombe families living in Devon. The names seen on these charts usually in the top corners are individuals who provided information for that particular chart. In the case of charts from the United States, Galen Pinkham has contributed a great deal of information to the descendants of the Pincombe/Pinkham family and this information can be found on the charts which he produced. I do remind other researchers that there are discrepancies in these charts and I would appreciate knowing of any that you may find so that eventually a corrected chart will be published.

82 that if anye of the said Agnes, Margarett, & Susanna Webber shall marry & take to husbande anye person
83 without the consente likinge and good wille of my Executors or the greater parte of them firste obtained
84 and hadd then every and either of them so marryenge contrarye to the true meanynge of this my Will
85 shall have but the haalf deale or moietie of all or any the legacies whiche I have by this my Will geven
86 unto her or them. And the other moietie of the saide legacies or legacie shall remaine and be equallie
87 devided amongste the reste of the chilldren of my said daughter Alice Webber deceased, yf it shall so seeme
88 good to the greater parte of my executors. And for the better performance and faithefull execution of this
89 my will I do ordayne and make my trustie and welbeloved frendes and kynsmen John Bonde & Roger
90 Prouse of Tawnton in the countie of Somersett gent, Will[ia]m Tooker mayor of Southmoulton, and
91 Stephen Domynecke mercer my whole and sole Executors thereof, onelie in truste and confidence so to
92 contynue and remayne my said executors untill the foresaid Susanna Webber shall or mighte accomplishe
93 the age of One and Twentie yeares. And that then and from thenceforthe the said John Bond, Roger

97 Susanna, Margarett, and Agnes, my will is that the charge thereof be defrayed oute of a reasonable and

This is the will of John Pincombe (married to Amy Dodderidge (daughter of Richard Dodderidge and her brother John Dodderidge was a Judge in Devon)). John, in his will, mentions all of his children and grandchildren. The children of John and Amy Pincombe were John, Alice and Agnes. Alice was married to Roger Webber and the mother of Rebecca, Agnes Margarett, John and Susanna Webber. Agnes was married to (unknown) Selye and had at least one daughter Jone. John married Mary Carew (daughter of Sir John Carew) and their children were Richard, Elizabeth, Gertrude, Mary and Joan. Gertrude Pyncombe’s will was published in the Pincombe-Pinkham Newsletter Volume 2, Issue 4. The father of this John Pincombe is said to also be a John Pincombe according to the Visitation of Devon 1620 (with additions). This Visitation, however, is not signed by a family member.
The original Pincombe researchers had linked this John back to a Richard Pincombe said to have married in 1574 but the likely age of this John Pincombe from his will information would not fit into this chart. Since he has grown grandchildren (his grand daughter Rebecca is married to Hugh Tucker) he is likely to be over 40 giving him a likely year of birth prior to 1565 with an age of 40 being a very low estimate. There are other Visitation charts (this is the original 1620 Visitation of Devon):
This Visitation has been signed by a family member, William Pyncombe of South Molton and East Buckland, Coroner of the County of Devon (and my ancestor is William Pincombe married to ____ Snowe through his son Richard).
Putting this particular line of the Pincombe family together has been tricky and will be further discussed in the next issue of the newsletter.
3. Autosomal DNA Study
No change with regard to discussion has occurred in the Pincombe DNA study at FT DNA since the last Newsletter. It is not possible to discuss the autosomal DNA results that I do have and still protect the privacy of the individuals who are in the Study. The entire Pincombe DNA study at FT DNA includes 19 members of whom 12 have taken the Family Finder Test. I am still not yet ready to discuss the yDNA Pincombe-Pinkham family study.

These baptismal records are transcribed from the fiche of the original Parish Records for North Molton, Devon. I have changed the orientation of the newsletter to make it easier to publish the transcriptions for North Molton directly from my Excel file.
