I had an appointment for new reading glasses yesterday and a form/letter for the Ministry of Transport stating that I no longer need corrective lenses to drive (I was willing to pay the $50) to get the Vision form filled in but I also do not mind having the Vision Test at my Driving Test). I want to be sure that I fulfill all the requirements for continuing to drive at 80. I did get my prescription for the reading glasses (they will be ready in three weeks; not sure why so long but I am not in a rush) but my letter even after checking earlier when my daughter had her appointment a week ago that I could get a form/letter for that it did not happen although the optometrist said he would write it up for pick up today for which I will pay $50 with the nuisance of going in as I do not know if the Ministry will accept a letter emailed to me. Really weird why a form letter doesn't exist that you could just run off on letterhead and sign; send it into the ministry with the person being tested named and Driver's License number as I filled in the Vision form from the website - could be done easily as well. Will check today on the phone/web contact form to see if it is available for pickup. Medicine was very streamlined when I was working in it back in the early 2000s. I did find it somewhat ridiculous given that my appointment time was used up by someone making my appointment twenty minutes late! I was careful to be very quick and not waste any time. I even said at the end of the appointment that every two years suited me but he seemed to think I needed to come every year. Given the large group of baby boomers who will need optometrist care over the next twenty/thirty years I really think optometrists should rethink this idea of every year personally unless one runs into problems of course.
A little work on the matches as I have now moved my file folder for that work over to the new computer. I also worked on the old computer as I want to start putting time into Edward's material that is on that computer as I backed up his drive to my old machine which has a 1.5 T hard drive. My work doesn't take up that much room but also I do not have music or videos or any space gobbling apps on my machine. Edward loved his computer and spent hours on it every day writing the hundreds of people he corresponded with around the world about his family lines. I continue to wish he was still in this world doing his own work (he did it so very well and I loved helping him with it) but one doesn't always get one's wishes. It has been very hard on his daughters and grandsons as well; they still talk about him and miss him very much. He was the center of their lives for sure.
Today drinking my tea and perhaps I will get outside and do some work. I have not really put much time into the garden this year other than at the beginning. Gardening at best is never my thing and without Edward's love for gardening I find that my liking for it has diminished greatly.
Solitaire puzzles are next and the day is open for exercise and work and hopefully picking up my letter.
