The future is always shrouded and it is better that way! We would not really enjoy the thrills of the future if we always knew that a thrill was about to happen - it would take the shine off of it. Living in the present is always a better idea. Living in the past means you miss the present; the present can have its hard moments but better to live it at the time and pass on by it. I used to say that to the dog when he was irritated by something; just pass on by I would say and he did but not without a bark or at least a sign that he didn't like something.
Each day is a gift of God Almighty and He wants us to enjoy the day; to love the day and each night to put it away with everything that we learned clearly part of our going forward.
