I decided to take on the 52 Ancestor Challenge this year. Monday was to be my day to look at my 4x great grandparents (all of whom are listed above as I know them with doubt for the last section from Woodcock to the last unknown). In total there are more than 52 names listed but I will only pick the ones for whom I have information and am fairly sure of my ancestry.
John Coleman, one of my 4x great grandfathers (we have 32 4x great grandfathers in total), was baptized 13 Feb 1737 at Upper Clatford. The priest has noted that he is the son of Clement Coleman and Dinah Bever. I am unable to find their marriage at Upper Clatford or in the surrounding areas but I do not have all the registers for this area. In total this couple baptized 8 children at Upper Clatford between 1737 and 1751. Two of these children died of measles in 1756.
John Coleman married Elizabeth Pearce 7 Oct 1771 at Abbots Ann. Elizabeth will be one of the 52 ancestors so will not write too much about her other than to say that they have two children baptized at Abbots Ann. Since John Coleman's parents and grandparents before them ran an Inn at Goodworth Clatford and the Pearce family were involved in running Inns at Abbots Ann my suspicion is that they were involved in running an Inn at Abbots Ann but I have not yet found any record of licenses there as I have at Goodworth Clatford. John died young at the age of 43 when his children were just seven and five years of age. He was buried at Upper Clatford (was there a Coleman family plot there?). I have not yet determined that but both of his parents were buried at Upper Clatford - his father Clement 8 Feb 1753 and his mother Dinah 7 May 1783.
