The testator, Mary Blake, lives at Stratford, Essex. Her maiden name of Rolph has been helpful in locating that family in Tilty, Essex. William Rolph is identified as the father of Jesse as mentioned in the will below. Jessie was said to be baptized 19 Jan 1755 at Tilty
http://blighty.50megs.com/RonBrand.html
His page continues with the descent of this family through Jesse.
The will of John Blake of Stratford Langthorn was published yesterday
http://kippeeb.blogspot.ca/2014/04/will-of-john-blake-gentleman-stratford.html
And I suspect that he is the husband of Mary the present testator as he mentions a niece Elizabeth Rolph and a niece Mary Litchfield. Neither of the wills mentions children. Boyd’s marriage index does provide a marriage for John Blake and Mary Rolf in 1762 in Ham West. No further information but will check the Society of Genealogists (SOG) since they produced Boyd’s marriage index.
The Apprenticeship records SOG volume 8, page 1437 lists a Charles Curtis as an apprentice to John Blake, Baker, at Stratford Langthorne in 1758 (mentioned in this will as a leasee). In 1782 there is an apprentice Robert Barnard to John Blake at Thaxted Essex, Baker. I wonder who the John Blake at Thaxted, Essex is related to.

Will of James Blake, late Grocer New Sarum, Wiltshire - The National Archives PROB 11/663/213, probated 31 Jan 1733/34
James Blake is the Testator. He names his wife Jane and his sons John and Charles and his daughters Elizabeth, Jane and Susannah.
He is likely the James Blake married to Jane Edwards in 1695 at Urchfont, Wiltshire (Family Search Patron Entry). Free BMD has the licence Bond (Sarum Marriage) giving the following details for the marriage in 1695 between James Blake, Salisbury, bachelor, grocer, 24 years of age and Jane Edwards, Salisbury, spinster, 23 years of age and that they married at Urchfont/Patney. Bondsman was Timothy Edwards, tailor, Salisbury.
Children of James and Jane Blake baptized at Saint Thomas Salisbury (Family Search C15348-2)
James baptized 6 Sep 1696
John baptized 19 Sep 1701
Jane baptized 13 Aug 1702
Charles baptized 28 Aug 1703
Edward baptized 8 Oct 1704
Elizabeth baptized 28 Nov 1705
Susanna baptized 1 Jun 1712
This family grouping does resemble the wife and children of James the Testator mentioned in the will (James, eldest son and Edward, youngest son are not mentioned so possibly deceased). One wonders if Elizabeth has formed a friendship which is not deemed suitable by her father judging by the funding he will provide if she marries.
One possibility for the testator is James Blake baptized 2 Feb 1670 at Great Wishford, Wiltshire son of John Blake. There is also a James Blake baptized 4 Dec 1667 at Burbage, Wiltshire son of John and Jane Blake. A third possibility is James Blake baptized 15 Nov 1665 at Saint Thomas Salisbury son of Thomas and Ann Blake (less likely as no sons are named Thomas). A fourth possibility is James Blake baptized June 1767 at St Edmunds Salisbury son of Nicholas Blake (also less likely given no sons named Nicholas). All of these records from Family Search.
Urchfont where James Blake married Jane Edwards in 1695 is 19 miles north of Salisbury and 14 miles north of Great Wishford. Burbage is 12 miles east.
James age is stated to be 24 years in 1695 so he was born circa 1671 and the most likely candidate from the baptisms is James Blake baptized at Great Wishford and son of John Blake.
There was a James Blake mayor of Salisbury in 1716 and 1718 and in 1757 a John Blake was mayor of Salisbury. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayor_of_Salisbury
I will return to this Blake line to investigate the sons John and Charles and their marriages at a later date as well as any marriages for their sisters Jane, Elizabeth and Susanna.

Will of Henry Blake, Yeoman, Mere, Wiltshire - The National Archives PROB 11/1724/331, probated 21 Apr 1827
Henry Blake is the testator. There is a marriage between Henry Jupe and Jemima Blake which was celebrated at Mere, Wiltshire 1820. There were a number of children baptized to this couple at Mere (Family Search C39680-9):
Jemima baptized 16 Jan 1823

Elizabeth Ann baptized 25 Jan 1826
Henry Blake baptized 27 Jun 1827
James baptized 29 Dec 1828
Jane baptized 2 May 1832
Giles baptized 30 Dec 1835
John baptized 30 Dec 1835
On the 1841 census at Causeway, Mere,
Henry Jupe, 40, Farmer, born in Wiltshire
Jemima Jupe, 35, , born in Wiltshire
Jemima Jupe, 17, , born in Wiltshire
Mary Jupe, 15, , born in Wiltshire
Elizabeth Jupe, 13, , born in Wiltshire
Henry Jupe, 12, , born in Wiltshire
John Jupe, 9, , born in Wiltshire
Giles Jupe, 6, , born in Wiltshire
Thomas Jupe, 9 months, , born in Wiltshire
Anne Blake, 75, independent, born in Wiltshire
Jemima Blake Jupe married 20 May 1850 at Mere Uriah Carter
Giles Jupe married 1858 at Mere Harriet Ann Moore and both of these marriages from Family Search. I did not find the Henry and Jemima Jupe family on the 1851 or 1861 census. I did not check all the individual children as I do not follow the daughters much past the marriage date and the children born to them. I could not find the mother Anne Blake on later census. There is a death for Ann Blake at Mere June quarter 1844. There is a death for a Jemima Jupp September quarter 1859 at Hartlepool, Durham. But I couldn't relate this to any census material.

Will of Alexander Blake, Timber Merchant of Southampton - National Archives PROB 11/531/294, probated 11 Feb 1713
From the IGI Alexander Blake was buried 7 Jun 1712 in Hampshire (RG6_1027 The genealogist co uk). Alexander the son of Alexander and Mary Blake was baptized 15 Sep 1706 (RG6_1027 IBID) (both from the non-conformist record indexes). I also found a record of one of Alexander's and Mary's other children: Hannah born 24 Jul 1704 Hampshire (RG6_1027 ibid). I have not yet found a child named "Massey" or a child named "Mary."
There was a John Futcher living in the Romsey/Southampton area with a marriage in the early 1690s from the Non-Conformist Record Indexes. Likewise an Abraham Messer living in a similar area to Alexander also from the Non-Conformist Record Indexes. Richard Burges is perhaps the eldest and he too was living in the Romsey area. All of these men are merchants or tradesmen. The three mentioned have families living in the Romsey and Southampton area.
If the children did survive to adult hood I have not yet found any records of their marriages that I can truly match to this family. What a sad story is contained in this will. Alexander and his wife dying and leaving their four children in the care of their fellow merchants and tradesmen.
No ideas yet on the parents of Alexander Blake.

Will of Abraham Pincombe of Stoke Damerel (dated 26 Apr 1830 (probated 5 Dec 1831)) - Source: Inland Revenue Wills p. 882
The will of Abraham Pincombe is the second last of my cache of Pincombe wills (other than those of my 2x great grandfather and great grandfather and the administration for my grandfather which I have not yet published). I need to verify the transcription of these three other wills and will in due course publish them as well but the wills I have thus far completed are all wills published in England.
Abraham Pincombe allows me to identify him fairly closely by the entries in his will. Looking at the chart prepared by the earlier Pincombe researchers he is Abraham Pincombe baptized 30 May 1764 at Stoke Damerel and a quick check of Find My Past locates the burial for Abraham Pincombe as 4 Dec 1831 at 66 years of age. The earlier chart lists the parents of this Abraham as Abraham Pincombe and Mary (no surname) who were married before the 12th April 1750. This Abraham was said to be the son of Silas Richard Pincombe and Hannah. An interesting website traces the Pincombe family at Northlew:
http://www.speare.org.uk/pincombe_family_of_northlew.htm
This website identifies the descendants of Abraham Pincombe bc 1727; buried 23 Jun 1799 at Northlew Devon and his wife Mary whom he married by 1749 and she was buried 10 Aug 1773 at Northlew. Their children weere: Abraham Pincombe baptized 12 Apr 1750 (buried 16 Oct 1753 in Northlew), Elizabeth Pincombe baptized 30 Sep 1752; buried 27 Dec 1753 in Northlew, Abraham Pincombe baptized 23 Sec 1754; buried 28 Feb 1762 at Northlew, Elizabeth Pincombe baptized 20 Feb 1759 at Northlew, Thomas Pincombe baptized 6 Apr 1761 at Northlew and died Sep quarter 1841 at Northlew, and Abraham Pincombe baptized 30 May 1764 and buried 5 Dec 1831 at Plymouth.
The website identifies the sons of Thomas as Abraham, John, Thomas, William and Stephen. The progeny of William Pincombe is then followed in this chart.
The will mentions only Abraham, Thomas, William and Stephen as sons of Thomas, brother of Abraham (the testator). He also mentions Elizabeth the wife of John Dennis but a search of the IGI, Find my Past and other databases does not reveal if this is his sister Elizabeth or a niece Elizabeth. The same is true of Agnes married to Thomas Curtis. I do not know if there is any relationship between Agnes and Abraham Pincombe although they are named executors.

Abraham (the testator) is the youngest son in this family. When I look for descendants of his brother Thomas they are all agricultural labourers. One wonders why Abraham is listed as a gentleman (of course this is self-reporting). Did this family undergo a drop in status in this generation? Who is Richard Silas Pincombe the supposed father of Abraham Pincombe married to Mary and the father of the testator Abraham? As always each new will brings up a whole lot of new questions.
The remaining will in this set of wills from Inland Revenue is Elizabeth Pincombe and I will work on her will next.
