Andrew Blake is the testator and this is the first of fifteen Blake wills from Cornwall. There was a Blake family at St Breock and there are a number of documents in the National Archives concerning leases held by them at St Breock. Thomas son of Thomas Blake is mentioned 26 Dec 1691 as is Henry Blake son of Peter Blake, yeoman same lease 1691. Again in 1714 there was a lease for 99 years on the life of Peter Blake son of Henry Blake and secondly on the death of Thomas Blake son of Thomas Blake, yeoman. in 1663 there is mention of Thomas Blake, son of Reginald Blake, yeoman, deceased. Mention of Thomas Blake as appointed an attorney to deliver seisin. In 1612 Peter Blake yeoman and Mary his wife with a lease for 99 years (Breage parish). In 1630, Peter Blake of Breock, clerk and this is a lease in reversion for 99 years on the life of Richard Blake who was the son of Peter Blake of Breock, clerk (Peter's wife was Mary). In 1649 there is mention of an Andrew Blake of Ewe, yeoman and he appears to be related to John son of John Blake of Marhamchurch (wife is Elizabeth). These documents are all in the Cornwall Record Office and deal with the Arundell papers. Of interest St Ewe is just 16 miles south of St Breock.
Was Andrew part of this family? Impossible to tell at the moment.

Will of Martha Beard, widow, Saint Olave Southwark - The National Archives PROB 11/410/18, probated 4 Jun 1692
Martha Beard the testator is the wife of Thomas Beard woolwinder and his beard was published earlier in my blog:

There is a mystery in all of this as later in 1692 there is a document which I have labeled Sentence of Martha Beard. This is the late 1600s and William III and Mary II are on the throne. The Sentence is in Latin but at some point I will perhaps look through it but I have not yet determined if Thomas is part of the Beard family from which I descend.
Elizabeth Marriott is mother to Thomas Beard (and it appears still living) and Margaret is mentioned as a sister to Martha herself and she lives at Reading. Lydia Knight is also a sister of Thomas and mentioned in his will. The Boult family figures largely in her will but no mention of this family in the will of Thomas.
The last will in this group for Beard is by John Beard of St Thomas Hospital Southwark. This very large complex is still in Bermondsey and covers several blocks. I was tempted to go inside when we were there last as a number of my family members were born/cared for or died there in the 1700s. It is a four page will and must admit to being curious at its contents as it is written just prior to the death of Henry Beard my four times great grandfather.

Will of Humfry Blake, Nailsmith, Saint Olave Southwark, Surrey - The National Archives PROB 11/176/167, probated 15 Feb 1638
An interesting will as the testator is about to go to Virginia in 1634. The will being probated in 1638 leaves one to wonder if he has gone and returned ill and later succumbed to his illness.
No ideas on the ancestry of this Humfry Blake living at St Olave Southwark. Is Humfry Cundey/Condey/Candey his nephew/godson? Did a bit of searching online but nothing found that led to either of these people.
