Jone Blake, widow, is the testatrix. Cow Honeybourne is now part of Honeybourne. Long Marston is 5 miles away as is Mickleton.
Other than the fact that the surname of Jone is Blake there is no other mention of Blake in her will.
Will of Joan Blake, widow, 1689, Will number 89 at Cow Honeybourne, Consistory Court of Gloucester, GDR/Wills/1689(89).

Will of John Blake of Standish, Gloucestershire - Diocese of Bristol Will on Ancestry, probated 30 Apr 1592
Always nice when two wills fit together and this is the husband of Elizabeth Blake of Standish who left her will dated 27 Sep 1592. Elizabeth mentions her son Richard Harris, her daughter Anne Blake and her son Walter Blake. Elizabeth’s will was blogged earlier:

Will of Walter Blake, husbandman, Highbray, Devon - The National Archives PROB 11/94/334, probated 31 Oct 1599
The testator Walter Blake has named his wife and son joint executors but by the time of the probate both his wife and son have also died. He named Henri Rew and his son Richard and Johan Mole as acquaintances. The other names mentioned are his servants and his overseers namely John Tincombe (clerk) and John Yelland. I found the reference to Tincombe interesting as my other one name study is Pincombe. A few people have asked me if I would consider that surname a variant of Pincombe but to this point in time I have not added this surname as a variant.
High Bray where the testator lives is six miles north west of South Molton and 4 miles north west of North Molton.
Looking at the Blake family in North Molton in this time period of the late 1500s there isn’t an entry for a Walter Blake – two families are at North Molton – Michael and Agnes Blake who married in 1558 and Richard and Johane Blake who married in 1563. Neither of them have a son Walter. Mine you he could be a brother to these two men or otherwise related. The records do not go back far enough. There was a Thomas Blake buried there 8 May 1542 and a John Blake buried there 5 Dec 1546. Again the Manor Records for North Molton are a future endeavor on my part.
Protestation Returns were a topic in my emails yesterday and I note that I actually haven’t put into a blog the material that I have thus far transcribed for Blake families in Protestation Returns.

Having now drawn out this information I should seriously look at the Somerset family with regard to the wills that I have been publishing but I think it will wait until I actually do the Somerset Wills for Blake somewhat later in the year or in the new year as I have 57 wills to transcribe for the Blake families in Somerset. But I can see that working on the Protestation Returns for Wiltshire should also join my priority list of items.
My last set of protestation returns (these are complete for Eskdale Ward in Cumberland) shows only one Blake signing the oath – George Blake at Arthuret. There is also a Robert Blacke at Arthuret. In general though I do not make note of the Black family unless it is a misspelling of Blake by the priest in the Parish Register. I think they are a distinctly different family with Black referring possibly to dark hair whereas Blac/Blak from the gaelic refers to fair haired individuals. The other side of the coin is that Blake is already large enough for me to look at and I suspect Black may be just as large or larger!
No sign of a Walter in these records but I do note the large number of Blake in Somerset but my returns for Devon are only for the North Devon area and there are probably Blake families in South Devon in this time frame judging by the wills discussions of the past few days. At some point I shall collect that information as well – probably on our next trip to Salt Lake City.

Will of Henry Buller, Bengal, East Indies - The National Archives PROB 11/1366/178, probated 3 Dec 1801
This will for Henry Buller is similar to the preceding one blogged the day before yesterday. However there was a new admon granted and the details follow. The dates are somewhat confusing and will try to sort that out. There are some subtle differences in the will and some added copy in the margin which makes this will slightly different. It is perhaps the first will written although also carries the "word" copy at the top but this has been rewritten and is not in the original hand of Henry Buller. The year of death is stated in a letter from a William John Morgan as occurring on 1 January 1800 at sea off the Cape of Good Hope.
The reason for the second probate appears in the first probate. This will was not the original official copy of the will and probate was granted on the basis of looking only at his holdings in England with the proviso that at a later date when the will became available the remainder of the will would be executed. It was somewhat confusing because both entries carry the word "Copy" at the top.
The next set of wills are from Somerset and there are eight of them:

130 said deceased but they not either of them in any
131 wise appeared
The reason for the second probate appears in the first probate. This will was not the original official copy of the will and probate was granted on the basis of looking only at his holdings in England with the proviso that at a later date when the will became available the remainder of the will would be executed. It was somewhat confusing because both entries carry the word "Copy" at the top.
The next set of wills are from Somerset and there are eight of them:

Will of Henry Buller of Bengal - The National Archives PROB 11/1494/16, probated d13 Mar 1809
I am somewhat intrigued by this will as there is a companion will also by Henry Buller still to do. Sir Edward Buller did the probate of this will as Residuary Legatee. The probate states that John Buller outlived his brother Henry but was himself dead in 1809 at the time of probate. John Buller died in 1807 according to the Visitation which means that Henry died between 1792 when he wrote his will and 1807 when John died. The ages of the children in 1792 were less than 21 and in 1809 they would have been seventeen years older so possibly young adults. William Buller married in 1815 according to the Naval Chronicles (blogged yesterday). William Buller and Henry George Buller came back to England since William married there and Henry George Buller was in the army. Sir Edward does mention Henry George Buller (as the son of his brother Henry Buller) in his will but William Buller the other son has died. This is the first mention that the two boys are the sons of Henry Buller and it is in the will of Sir Edward Buller.

Will of William Buller, Surgeon, Honiton - The National Archives PROB 11/894/43, probated 15 Dec 1763
William Buller the testator was a Surgeon at Honiton and I believe that his wife Mary was the will which was published yesterday on the blog. William only names his son William and no other names for his children. The couple appear to have had seven children in total in birth order: Mary, William, Elizabeth, Susannah (deceased by 1740), John, Susannah, and Richard. Two of the daughters were married, Mary married James Broadfoot and Elizabeth married John Maynard. The other children John and Susannah are not accounted for in any of the text.

Will of Thomazine Buller of Morvall - The National Archives PROB 11/562/239, probated 21 Feb 1718
This is the last of the wills in Cornwall although I did not collect the wills from the 1800s on as I didn't really think this was my line and my Christopher Buller was born circa 1763. Thomazine names her sisters and her nephew. This Thomazine is the daughter of John Buller and Anne Coode. She did not marry. She does not mention any other relatives but is already second cousin to the Shillingham Buller family.
She is sister to Elizabeth Worth, Ann Parker and Mary Dodson. Mary Ann Harris is her niece (daughter of her brother John Buller).
She was named in her father's will (John Buller of Morval and he was married first to Anne Coode of Morval). The fortunes of the Shillingham Buller family passed to John Buller of Morval.

Will of Christopher Blake of Kensington, Middlesex - National Archives PROB 11/338/462, probated 11 Apr 1672
Christopher Blake is the testator and he was mentioned in his father's will blogged a few days ago:
http://kippeeb.blogspot.ca/2012/11/will-of-william-blake-esquire-of-inner.html
Again we can place this family into the Swindon and Wiltshire Blake Pedigree Chart as he mentions his cousins Francis Blake and William Blake entrusting them with the overseeing of his properties. Their father Thomas was a brother to Christopher's grandfather William. By this time his cousins Francis and William are in their 60s.
This Blake line is daughtering out with this family but of course that means that other surnames are continuing - it is a win lose situation and there are still plenty of people with the Blake surname in the world. My own line daughters out with my generation although I have four brothers but none of them have a son.
This will reveals interesting details that Mary Blake (sister to the Testator and Ann) was married 16 May 1655 at Saint Christopher Le Stocks, London to Nicholas Harris.
The Parish Register for Saint Christopher Le Stocks in online at Ancestry and the text reads as follows [Margin: Nicho: Harris and Mary Blake]:
"These are to certify all whome it doth or may concerne, according to an Act of Parliament concerning Marriages and bearing date ye 24th of August 1653 an intention of marriage betweene Nicholas Barry of ye parish of [St] Peters [West]Cheape, London and Mary Blake of the parish of Christofer London was by joint consent published three successive Lords daies in ye parish Church of Christofer aforesaid viz[ a vi]t on the 22th and the 29th of Aprill 1655 and the 6th of May following.
Nicholas Harris of the Parish of Peters Cheape London and Mary Blake of this parish of Christopher London were on the 16 day of May 1655 marryed before mee Robert Tichburne esq[ui]re etc and one of the justices of Peace for ye City of London in the presence of two credible witnesses according to a late Act of parliament in that behalfe made and married.”
As Mary Harris widow she married Joseph Dorney although I have not yet found this marriage.
Red Rose Street mentioned in the will has a writeup in British History Online:
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=46110
Rose Street
A comparison of the modern map with those of Rocque or Horwood (Plates 7, 8) will show how the original character of Rose Street has been obscured by changes made in the 1860's. The construction of Garrick Street deprived the southern arm of its identity as a street of houses, which is now apparent only in the drawing of 1851 reproduced on Plate 50b, while the westward extension of Hart (now Floral) Street broke across the long narrow alley-like approach to Long Acre. The circumstances in which this tortuous and ill-favoured link between that street and Covent Garden had come into being in 1638– 1640 are described on page 268.
Something of the haste with which at least the greater part of the street was developed is apparent in the St. Martin's ratebooks, where a score or more of ratepayers were assessed in 1640 but none in previous years. In this ratebook the street is designated Red Rose Street, which was the name originally given to the southernmost north-south arm (ref. 185) and to the east-west arm. (ref. 186) The northern arm was originally called White Rose Street (ref. 186) and its appearance in the ratebooks has not been certainly identified, but, if not included in the Red Rose Street section, it cannot have preceded it by more than a year or two. (ref. 187) On Lacy's 1673 map (Plate 2) and later maps the distinction of nomenclature is not observed. (fn. a)
All of the street was laid out beyond the wall made in c. 1610 to enclose the centre of Covent Garden (see page 24). The greater part (including virtually all that now surviving) was built on land already sold off by the fourth Earl of Bedford in 1635, (ref. 188) and most of this was left in St. Martin's parish when the boundary of the chapelry and parish of St. Paul was delimited.
Lacy's map of 1673 shows the east-west arm extending westward beyond the point where the northern arm turned off, and subsequent maps show a connexion here with another alley running into Long Acre called Angell Alley: this western extension of Rose Street has now been swallowed up in Garrick Street.
British History Online has a section on Brompton Road, North Side which pertains to the family of Sir William Blake
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=50007
Like much of eastern Kensington, this property belonged in the early seventeenth century to Sir William Blake, being part of the hundred acres of meadow and pasture land in St. Margaret's Westminster, Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Kensington which that gentleman owned at his death in 1630. (ref. 2) Subsequently it passed to the Tatham family, which by 1675 also held thirty-three acres of copyhold land in Kensington, including the thirteen acres adjoining westwards to this freehold, where Brompton Square, Holy Trinity Church, and the Oratory now stand. (ref. 3) By 1691) the freehold property belonged to Thomas Powell of Hackney, citizen and cutler of London, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Henry Tatham of Clapham. (ref. 4) They disposed of it in 1717 to Peter Laroche, and he duly resold it the following year to Philip Moreau (1656–1733), who since 1705 seems to have been the owner of the thin strip of land previously referred to immediately south-west of Knightsbridge Green, later the site of Nos. 38–58A Brompton Road. (ref. 5)

Will of Jeremiah Blake, shoemaker, Ryde, Isle of Wight - National Archives, PROB 11/2072/287, probated 13 Apr 1848
The Blake family on the Isle of Wight has an interesting history. I know that descendants of Charles Blake of Abbots Ann lived on the Isle of Wight from the mid 1800s on but I am fairly confident that Jeremiah is not a descendant of Charles Blake of Abbots Ann.
Emma Blake daughter of Jeremiah Blake and Hannah Harris was baptized 15 Jun 1817 at Ryde, Isle of Wight (C06957-1 Family Search). Jeremiah Blake married Hannah Harris 23 May 1816 at Newchurch, Hampshire (I03940-5 Family Search),From Free BMD, marriage of Emma Blake and Henry Jennings September quarter 1839 at Isle of Wight Registration District. That accounts for all the individuals mentioned in Jeremiah's will that are related to him.
Jeremiah is on the 1841 census at Newchurch, Ryde, Isle of Wight, District 9 and with him is his wife Hannah (both are listed as 50 years of age). He is a shoemaker and living with them a daughter Martha 15 years of age (not mentioned in the will), and Sarah Dashwood a female Servant of 15 years. All were born in Hampshire.
Given Jeremiah's age he is perhaps the Jeremiah Blake baptized 10 Oct 1790 at Godshill near Newport Hampshire and the son of James Blake and Ann Strugnell who were married 11 Dec 1775 at St Marys Portsea. Godshill is on the Isle of Wight so a very interesting possibility with Jeremiah being an unusual forename.
Children baptized to James and Anne Blake at Godshill (near Newport), Isle of Wight:
Joseph Blake baptized 16 Mar 1777
Robert Blake baptized 6 Jun 1779
Elizabeth Blake baptized 2 Sep 1781
Ann Blake baptized 22 Jan 1783
Jane Blake baptized 25 Aug 1784
Sarah Blake baptized 17 Oct 1785
Richard Blake baptized 27 Mar 1788
Jeremiah Blake baptized 10 Oct 1790
Isaac Blake baptized 29 Apr 1792
Henry Blake baptized 2 Feb 1794
Jane Blake baptized 9 Oct 1796
Since James and Ann were married at St Marys Portsea I wonder if their children are the first in this family to be baptized on the Isle of Wight.
