The best way to leave would be to resign immediately

 I have to admit if a politician really is devoted to their country and they commit such a shameful act as to incite people to attack the Capitol Building (The People's House) then they would resign immediately. One of the police force in the building has now died from his injuries; this is really both a murder and treason committed against the property of the United States and hence against the American people. But if all of this has been in their own interest then likely they will hang in there until the last minute and one wonders how much more abuse will they pile on to what they have already done.
