Yesterday we cleared away the ice that coated the laneway and that was a back breaking task for sure but all accomplished for the most part. Hoping for snow the next couple of days and back to skiing once again. First thing in the morning the trees did have a small coating of ice but it was gone by mid afternoon and a sigh of relief I am sure that the vicious ice storm had passed us by for once.
We did review our freezer content and used up a number of items for last nights dinner which was an interesting one - a four cheese pizza which was very tasty and then two meat dishes - scallops with couscous, peas, grated carrot and tomatoes along with a piece of salmon poached and then placed in a tasty sauce with a cucumber salad on the side. We had our cooler ready with frozen blocks just in case.
The basement cleaning was completed in the morning and today is the main floor and that will be in an hour or so that I will work on that.
I also worked on the matches and I am about half way through Chromosome 12. There are 22 known cousins with matches on Chromosome 12 and half way through I now have matches that take me back to great grandparents Pincombe, Knight, Buller, Rawlings, Gray, and Blake. There are a number of matches that are Rawlings/Cotterill and Buller/Taylor and will have to look at the trees to investigate them. I still have about 40 matches left to do for Chromosome 12. There are very few areas that do not have a known great grandparent. Perhaps I will complete the other fourty matches today - hard to predict as I sometimes do follow through and look at trees although the intent is simply to make a list but one can distracted.
Still 11 chromosomes to do and the number of matches for some of them is very large but almost half way through so that is good.
Minus 14 degrees celsius today and we are back into the Polar Vortex for a bit as the temperatures will be similar to that for a few days but it is January coming and the coldest months tend to be January and February.
Tea drank and must do my solitaire puzzles. Breakfast and cleaning next.
