Advent Sunday

The hymns of the Church Year tell the story of God from the beginning of the Church Seasons - Advent - to the end - Christ the King, last Sunday in Trinity. The Advent hymns are full of beauty and a joy to sing as we come once again to Christmas. Today the Advent Lessons and Carols will be livestreamed. and for the next two Sundays at 4 pm O Antiphons and Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. I shall be finding a service this morning online as well. Sunday is the best day of the week I always think.

I will spend some time on the Siderfin book but my eyes probably need rest today and tomorrow will hopefully finish the 12th generation. Then I shall start proofreading as I finish the last chapters. There will be a lot of reading and indexing so that would be a good plan I rather think.

The world still in turmoil. Sudan is in the midst of genocide as once again Africans go against their own people as they have through the ages including selling them for many centuries before these last two centuries. Why are they so evil?  The greatest diversity in Homo sapiens is in Africa, the cradle of the Homo sapiens genus. In that way it is interesting that the genetic pool of Africa has been moved around the world in so many different ways; first the adventurers leaving Africa and going into what is now the Middle East where movement further east and to the north-east and west into Europe occurred. Some of those adventurers were hunter-gatherers for a very long time whilst those who stayed in the Levant became farmers but gradually as crowding occurred they too would move like the hunter-gatherers before them into the far reaches of the Eastern Hemisphere. Gradually we are learning so much about the travels of Homo sapiens and the peoples that preceded them. Fascinating and is now going mainstream into academia as citizen scientists give way to academics looking at this startling new and amazing way to look at human migration - DNA.

On to the day.
