China is a very efficient country with a huge output of products that they sell around the world

The military parade in China must have cost huge sums to organize and put on. I remember the military parades of my childhood in the late 40s and early 50s. We were remembering the war dead mostly and they always ended up at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park with rows and rows of soldiers. It was beautiful and when I became a Brownie we joined the parades walking behind our soldiers in perfect step - we were militaristic when I was a child. It was part of my makeup and the principal of my elementary school was an ex-British soldier. He ran that school with such precision. Perfect lines coming in every day whether it was first thing in the morning or at recess or lunch time - always perfect. But such parades are very expensive to organize and we have moved to parades that pay for themselves. Life can be very costly.

The parade in China is being talked about a great deal with all sorts of thoughts.  I think it was a beautiful way to remember all the war dead in China and they were in the millions; all the achievements of China during those war torn years as they moved all of their factories to the west so that they could keep on fighting; The desire to win was strong in the Chinese people I believe and they persevered and did win and free their country. I was sad for them at the time of the revolution in 1949/50 although I was pretty young but it just seemed sad that they had been through so much and then there was more. I can be corrected of course but Hong Kong was handed to them after 99 years as per the agreement at the time and at no point prior to that did they attempt to take it over which is why I think that they will continue to wait on Taiwan. You attract more with kindness and a reason to belong like our giving Labrador to Newfoundland when they joined Confederation. There always has to be a gain; when something is taken away whether visible or invisible there is resentment.

I continue to support the Prime Minister as he has a good grasp on what needs to be done; he is after all a banker at heart. I expect good support from all the elected members of the House of Commons towards these projects; they come as they come and we need support on all sides so they move steadily forward. I listened to both the Prime Minister and the Premier of Manitoba yesterday and both leave me with the feeling that our country is in good hands. Cheers to Premier Ford for pouring out the bottle of spirits that decided to move its production south of the border. I may think he comes on strong on occasion but his heart is with the workers of Ontario (and all the people). But that is just Ford being Ford - he gets a break for that. Also I voted for him as the normal Conservative voter that I am. But when it is all over; the election that is then I support the government that in this case 85% of Canadians voted to put into office. We expect results but they will take time as impatient as I am for shovels in the ground - winter approaches.

But if one thinks of glorious and triumphant that has to be the sunrise that we have every day of our lives thanks be to Almighty God. He lives, He rules and He watches for us to do the right thing. Love (respect) our neighbour as ourself and the two great commandments which Jesus brought were to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and love our neighbour as ourself. When we attain these two great commandments then we will become the sort of people God wants us to be. I do not claim that I am perfect; like every human all of us have our foibles but I do struggle with them and watching horrific events is a very very painful experience as I feel for those people in all the countries where they suffer. But it is the children that must be at all times protected and when that doesn't happen chaos erupts. That isn't wrapping them in cotton wool and never letting them play; it is protecting them and teaching them methods that will keep them afloat through the years that are not hurting anyone else. God gave us duties to do; we need to do them.

Yesterday good accomplishment on the matches as I am now down to just 109 to place.  Probably still another week of work give or take and some of them have been particularly useful in solving tiny queries in my mind with some short lengths of chromosome here and there where there was a bit of ambiguity. I must complete chromosome 7's crossover points today as well. I did not start on the photo albums and will do that directly after breakfast. I began the day with my toast, applesauce, hard boiled egg and tea. Still drinking the tea but the rest is all eaten. Then breakfast around 8 to 9 and a period of work and then rowing today as yesterday was weight lifting. Rowing, running and yoga will be my day's exercise. Once one is 80 I do think you see the world differently; the time ahead is short compared to the time passed on this earth. I do have my two books that are in mind and in preparation. The historical written but there will be changes as I work through the Latin documents which I set aside until I felt my eyes were really strong enough. It is good to give healing a chance to happen. Although I may have been excessive in that regard. But I learned that wonderful lesson from the psychiatrist all those years ago - all you really have to do is rest and eat and enjoy that little baby because you are a workaholic and need to learn to take it easy whilst you are young or you might not be old. I at that point of 29 years did not really think of the future in terms of reality; but he created a thought pattern in my mind that has stayed with me all these years. If I am tired; I sleep. If I am hungry; I eat although mostly toast, tea, applesauce and a hard boiled egg if between meals. But I am lucky because I live in a polar country which is not overly interesting to the rest of the world and peace has been our part since the last time the United States invaded us during the War of 1812-1814  although we have fought in wars namely the Second Boer War, First World War, Second World War, Korean War and Afghanistan. Lots of peace keeping missions through the years for the United Nations and NATO but for the most part Canada has been at peace. Because peace is a beautiful thing and that uplifted plain keeps eluding us on earth because of greed; greed for land greed for property. You can dress it up however you like; but it is greed. One of the great sins and the one most likely to destroy earth. That beautiful glorious gift from God.

The day awaits and tea is being drank along with solitaire puzzles being played.
