Prayers continuing for those trapped in the earthquake in Afghanistan, at last count 1400 people have died and many injured.
Cleaning all completed and I also published the Pincombe-Pinkham Newsletter Volume 10 Issue 4 2025 as of 1st of September although I was a day late.
I begin on the albums to reduce them from 44 to 7 or 8. They stretch back to our early days together in the mid 1960s to the early 2000s. The pictures from then on are all electronic but the girls were well into their teen years and beyond by then. My eldest had gone on to do her PhD and my youngest was thinking of doing her MSc in Biology - they both completed those degrees and my youngest also went on to do her MD. Their father was very happy with that as he had his PhD in Chemistry and a MLS in Library Science. That seems so long ago now back in the early 2000s. I was still working but Edward was starting to think about retirement and he did retire in 2004 with me retiring in 2007. I would have liked to work to 2010 but a shoulder injury made it too difficult and so I too retired.
I will pass a lot of pictures to Edward's niece as there will be a lot for her direct family. They are all in electronic form in an index so can be looked at any time anyway but I think her family might enjoy having all of them.
Listening to the National Chief of the First Nations Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak discussing the planned items to move the energy corridor forward in Canada and I always find her to be a most interesting person to listen to. First Nations are not limited by the idea of a four year term in office but rather think in the long term like 50 years with regard to what is happening around them. She mentioned Premier Wab Kinew and he too is First Nations with a wide vision of how we should move forward. His idea of the Sea Port on Hudson Bay was unique and now it just seems so very right when on looks at the map of the world from the top down. It is ideally suited although restricted somewhat by winter but none the less the distance from Alberta to Manitoba is very doable in the short term and the First Nations is very interested in exporting LNG. Having everybody on board will make this doable and give Canada a boost in GDP for sure but also in our recognition that we can not do this alone we must all work together to make this great country (First Nations call this country Turtle Island and we call it Canada) everything it can be as a nation. We are much better together we ten provinces and three territories. The Prime Minister is working with the First Nations which is so very important to keep ourselves moving forward as quickly as can be done.
House all cleaned and now back to work. The sky this morning is clear and one can see a starry heaven above us. Another beautiful day on God's earth and I have to agree with the President of China that we need to move forward leaving the wars of the past behind us. The greedy land grabber Russia though is unrealistic in thinking that Ukraine will give up its rightful territory which was decided upon at the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. To claim fear of NATO is a sham because we have stood by as we have watched Russia terrorize, butcher and destroy Ukraine. Go home Russia; the five oblasts of Ukraine are not yours; it is ignorant of you to claim them. I did not sense in the words of President Xi that he was saying Russia was in the right. Time will tell but I suspect that the only one who can really solve this butchery we are seeing in Ukraine is the President of China. China suffered more than any country in the Second World War - for them it began much earlier 7 Jul 1937 and yesterday marked the end of the Second World War 2 Sep 1945 in China. Millions of Chinese died during the Second World War and their heroic march to the west mostly on foot moving their factories to safety to continue the war effort will be forever remembered in the history books. Russia has done what no one else has done though and that is to cause Europe to once again re-arm and prepare themselves for invasion by Russia and if Russia fears that they brought it on themselves - two traditionally neutral countries (Sweden and Finland) joined NATO which would never have happened if Russia had not invaded Ukraine. Russia created this mess and they need to stand down and get out of Ukraine.
Time to make tea. Solitaire puzzles are next.
