Lovely Hallowe'en with my daughter and family. We were out in all the rain and it was a fantastic time since I was wearing my rain pants and nylon winter jacket. Lots of good exercise and fresh air. Buckets filled quickly and back home again with all the dogs, cats, fish and bird who missed us dreadfully!
Home again and it is All Saints Day although celebrated tomorrow by most but I love All Saints Day as it reminds me of our loved ones lost in particular my two grandparents, my parents and my husband and siblings. God has given us so much and in sending Jesus to us He gave us His commandments (just two) to follow and bring peace and prosperity to our world. Two thousand years later we are still learning but once learned we will live on an uplifted plain of peace along with the rest of God's people as they too discovered God in their own way.
I am content with the methodology of Prime Minister Carney; we need to go to all these countries and find partners. His meeting with the Chinese President has been productive for him in restoring relations between us but now the onus is on us to create and produce. We can not just be employees of foreign companies. We need to recreate the lost industries and create new ones. We need to help the First Nations with their projects as they too have very good ones. We definitely need to trim the fat off the earlier budgets that actually got passed and do not support the overall goal of providing our youth with gainful employment. Of course now is the time for those who have been in the upper levels of management to stay the course and train their replacements if retirement is in their thoughts and help to eliminate those who have not contributed adequately to their jobs as is shown in the reviews by the Auditor General and other officers looking at the work done by CRA in particular. Working at home is something that you negotiate when you take the job; COVID doesn't provide you with proof that you did better at the job than in house. All federal workers should be in house unless they were actually hired prior to COVID to have a job at home.
But the Prime Minister can not do all the leg work; the parties have to work on this budget and come up with suggested changes and they do not have to be in advance of the presentation of the budget. The budget doesn't have to pass in two days; good discussion should be there and not whining. With the GST at 5% we cannot afford the types of additions made by the last Liberal government. I would like to see the Members of Parliament actually earning all the money that we pay them. Last summer whilst returning home we discovered one of the Councillors of the area with a table at the corner (heavily used by pedestrians going to the buses, going to the stores) asking people their opinions or their queries about items needed in the area. I didn't ask anything or even go near them. I do not have opinions on money spent in this area. At 80, I am just trying to survive all the ripped up streets and property as a new hydro system is installed. But it was excellent work and I have never seen a Member of Parliament since COVID do that. The breaks in parliament are too long; no one gets that long a break in work except them. Everyone else is working hard and so should they have been all summer. We are in a crisis; we should have a crisis type parliament working industriously to get things done. Instead nothing from the members except whining. You could have been in Parliament much earlier; had the budget earlier perhaps and more would be done.
A little more work on the 8th chromosome yesterday but not much as I was off for my outing early and gone all day, all night and back again now. So I shall continue with that and complete it; there are just three crossover points to prove or disprove and only about 8 matches to help with that so we will see.
The work begins and it does look perhaps like rain again although I do not see that on the weather; just cloudy and cold I guess.
